Khylief Thorpe, a 22-year-old resident of Newport News, Virginia, was found shot to death on July 3, 2011, inside a residence located in the 300 block of 72nd Street. The discovery of his body was made after Newport News police received information from Norfolk police regarding the location of a homicide victim. Thorpe's death was a result of gunshot wounds, and the case was quickly classified as a homicide.
