On April 5, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Virginia Beach Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of Level Green Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Kalani Bailey-Cortez of Norfolk suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
