Richard H. Nettleton, aged 65, tragically lost his life on May 31, 2019, in a mass shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. Nettleton, a dedicated public utilities engineer who had served the Virginia Beach community for 28 years, was among the 12 victims of this horrific event. The gunman, a disgruntled city employee, opened fire on his colleagues, resulting in one of the deadliest workplace shootings in recent U.S. history.
