On the afternoon of June 23, 2017, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, 18-year-old Isaiah D. Martin was sitting on the front porch of his home on Minneapolis Drive, engaged in conversation with his mother. This ordinary moment turned tragic in an instant. A blue Dodge approached the residence, and an individual inside the vehicle opened fire on the young man. The gunshots struck Isaiah, who was just one day shy of his 19th birthday.
