Darnell L. Coleman, a 20-year-old Black man, was killed in the early hours of April 23, 2024, when gunfire shattered the quiet around the Aspen Apartments in Virginia Beach. Just after 1 a.m., police were called to the complex in the area of the 700 block of Match Point Drive, near the Holland Road and South Plaza Trail corridor, where officers and emergency crews found him suffering from gunshot wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.
