On a tragic Friday afternoon in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the life of 50-year-old Ryan Keith Cox, a male account clerk, was cut short in an act of selfless heroism. On May 31, 2019, a disgruntled city engineer, DeWayne Craddock, opened fire inside the municipal building where Cox worked, creating a scene of chaos and terror. As shots rang out, Cox, a 12-and-a-half-year veteran of the city's public utilities department, immediately acted to save his colleagues.
