On May 5, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Portsmouth, Virginia, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Zavier Tyrone Allen Johnson III. The event unfolded around 10:38 p.m. when Portsmouth police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Johnson suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
