Amonte Copeland, 26, a Black male, was found with gunshot wounds in the 600 block of Dunedin Road, just off Portsmouth Boulevard, after officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 6:30 p.m. on June 19, 2025. He was taken for treatment but died from his injuries; police publicly identified him that evening as the victim. Family later shared his full name as Amonte Savion Copeland Sr., and an obituary noted he was born and raised in Portsmouth and had deep ties to the community.
