In the early hours of April 5, 2026, a dispute in Denver, Colorado, tragically cut short the life of 26-year-old Torin Dejuan Fluker. The incident unfolded around 1:55 a.m. in the vicinity of West Maple Avenue and South Broadway, where officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Fluker with apparent gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Denver Health Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:58 a.m.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner later confirmed the cause of death as gunshot wounds and classified the manner as a homicide.
The investigation into Fluker's death, initially thought to be potentially related to a road rage incident, led authorities to identify a suspect through witness interviews and a review of surveillance footage. Police determined that Fluker knew the individual, and the shooting was preceded by a verbal altercation. According to an arrest affidavit, a witness reported that the suspect made gang-related statements before opening fire. The same witness stated that Fluker, who was also armed, handed his gun to someone else after being shot and urged them to go after the assailant.
On April 24, 2026, the Denver Police Department announced the arrest of 28-year-old Rayzjuan Curry in connection with the fatal shooting. Curry was taken into custody and faces a charge of first-degree murder. The final decision on the official charges will be made by the Denver District Attorney's Office.
