In the winter of 2010, a Denver residence became the scene of a chilling discovery that would leave a family heartbroken and authorities with a years-long puzzle to solve. On the evening of December 20th, at approximately 6:44 p.m., Denver Police officers were dispatched to a home at 5105 W. Gill Place on what was initially reported as a medical call.
What they found upon arrival, however, pointed to a violent intrusion.
The front door of the house had been forcibly kicked in, a clear sign of a struggle or a brazen entry. Inside, they discovered the body of 41-year-old Caesar Barela, a White male. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and while the initial report listed his cause of death as unknown, the circumstances immediately launched a homicide investigation. The house was secured, and a search warrant was obtained to comb through the evidence left behind in the wake of the violence.
Despite the efforts of the Denver Police Department, the case of Caesar Barela's death grew cold. To this day, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with his murder.
