In the morning hours of August 18, 2024, a verbal altercation in Denver, Colorado, escalated into a fatal encounter for 26-year-old Efrain Enrique Palacio Delgado. The Hispanic/Latino man was shot and killed near the intersection of W. Arkansas Avenue and S. Knox Court around 9 a.m. The man responsible for the shooting, who was known to Palacio Delgado, immediately fled the scene in a vehicle, setting off a police pursuit.
The chase wound through the city streets for approximately 20
minutes before ending dramatically in the vicinity of S. University Boulevard and Cherry Hills Farm Drive. The fleeing vehicle crashed into another car before coming to a final stop. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Aldo Villa-Ceballos, deceased inside.
Authorities determined that Villa-Ceballos had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fortunately, the occupants of the vehicle that was struck during the conclusion of the chase were not injured. The Denver Police Department is investigating the entirety of the incident, which they have classified as a homicide. The death of the primary suspect brought a swift, if tragic, conclusion to the search for the person responsible for Efrain Enrique Palacio Delgado's death.
