A verbal dispute at a gas pump in Fairfax, Virginia, in the early hours of May 21, 2024, ended in the tragic death of 38-year-old Arthur Edward Mann II. The incident unfolded around 6:07 a.m. at a Citgo gas station located on Richmond Highway in the Fair Haven area, where a heated argument escalated to a fatal shooting.
Responding to reports of the shooting, Fairfax County police officers discovered Arthur Edward Mann II at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Despite emergency medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the gas station. Initial investigations by detectives suggest that the conflict began as a verbal altercation between Mann and another individual at the gas pump before the fatal shot was fired.
Later that same day, authorities apprehended a suspect in connection with the homicide. Doniel Drake, a 44-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was taken into custody by the police Fugitive and Apprehension Unit. Drake now faces charges of second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was subsequently transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter continues.
