In a tragic turn of events, a young life was cut short in St. James Parish, a community near Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Myron Mills Jr., a 17-year-old male, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the St. James Parish Coroner's Office.
The subsequent investigation into the death of the teenager led authorities to identify a primary suspect.
Law enforcement officials arrested 18-year-old Terrance Beckett in connection with the fatal shooting. Initially, Beckett was charged with 2nd Degree Murder as detectives began to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As the investigation progressed, further details emerged suggesting the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery. Following a lengthy investigation, the case was presented to a grand jury. The grand jury returned an indictment against Tarrence Beckett, who was 21 at the time of the indictment, on more severe charges. His charges were upgraded to 1st Degree Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. In addition to Beckett, two other juvenile suspects, aged 15 and 17, were also taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the events that led to Mills' death.
