In the summer of 2024, the life of 61-year-old Gary Lewis Boykins of Suffolk, Virginia, was cut short in a sudden act of violence. On the evening of June 1st, Boykins was at a residence on Old Dill Road where an apparent argument escalated, resulting in him being shot.
Following the shooting, a female acquaintance drove Boykins approximately two miles to Suffolk Fire & Rescue Station 3 on Carolina Road, seeking emergency medical help.
Despite the efforts of paramedics who were on the scene, Boykins' injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the fire station.
The Suffolk Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the shooting death of Gary Lewis Boykins.
