Authorities identified 22-year-old Aaron Porter as the individual who approached the vehicle and opened fire. In the chaotic moments that followed, another man, a 19-year-old, was shot and injured in the area of Second Avenue and Bute Street. A description of the shooter provided by this victim matched that of Porter.
The tragic chain of events concluded in the 700 block of First Avenue, where Aaron Porter was found deceased from a single gunshot wound. The investigation by the Suffolk Police Department encompassed a crime scene that spanned two city blocks, with a total of 20 spent shell casings recovered. An autopsy was scheduled to confirm the official cause of death for both Wilson and Porter.
