In the quiet community of Fredericksburg, Virginia, the summer of 2024 was shattered by a grim discovery that left residents in shock and mourning. On June 4th, Gregory Scott Powell, a 60-year-old male, was found deceased in his home, the victim of a violent crime that also claimed the lives of his two roommates. Information provided by a concerned friend of Venable, who mentioned she was in possession of a handgun, intensified the search.
The chase for Venable came to a dramatic end in New York State. After being spotted by state troopers, she led them on a high-speed pursuit that reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour. The chase concluded when her vehicle crashed after police deployed a tire deflation device. Venable was taken into custody and subsequently extradited back to Virginia to face charges.
Alyssa Jane Venable has been charged with first and second-degree murder in the deaths of Gregory Scott Powell, Robert John McGuire, and Carol Anne Reese. Following her arrest, she was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The motive for the killings has not been publicly released.
