In the early morning hours of November 18, 2018, the life of 24-year-old Chaquil Dailey of Stafford County, Virginia, was tragically cut short. Dailey, a Black male and a father to three young children, was at an Exxon gas station on Warrenton Road in Fredericksburg when he was fatally shot while at the gas pump around 12:20 a.m. He was quickly transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office immediately launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. Surveillance footage from the gas station captured images of a suspect, described as a Black male between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a black zip-up sweatshirt, dark pants, and black and white shoes. The suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a black Nissan sedan, believed to be either a Sentra or a Versa.
Dailey's sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through the local community, particularly as his family was preparing for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
He was a father to a six-year-old and three-year-old twins.
In the course of their investigation, authorities announced that two individuals had been arrested in connection with Chaquil Dailey's murder.
