On August 16, 2024, just before midnight, Norfolk police responded to reports of a shooting in the 5100 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Norfolk resident John E. Daughtry III suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
