On the night of August 16, 2024, in Norfolk, Virginia, a young life was tragically cut short. John E. Daughtry III, an 18-year-old Black male, was found suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound in the 5100 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard. The call came in to the Norfolk Police Department at approximately 11:50 p.m. reporting a gunshot victim. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the gravely injured teenager.
