In the early morning hours of October 13, 2024, a welfare check at a home on Hanson Grove Court in Manassas, Virginia, led to a grim discovery. In the basement apartment of the residence, police found the bodies of 45-year-old Joshua Lee Davis and his wife, Nicole Wanda Lynn Davis, also 45. Both had been fatally shot. The couple had been renting the basement space from the homeowner.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly pointed to a resident of the house, 49-year-old Amandeep Singh. Detectives learned that on the day before the bodies were discovered, Singh had been involved in a violent domestic dispute with two female family members, a 50-year-old and a 53-year-old, in the upstairs portion of the home. During that altercation, Singh allegedly held the two women at gunpoint inside a bedroom, discharged a firearm near them, physically assaulted one, and attempted to strangle the other. The women were able to escape, and the incident was not immediately reported to the police.
Sometime after this violent encounter, authorities believe Singh went into the basement and shot and killed Joshua and Nicole Davis. Investigators have stated that the couple was not believed to have been involved in the earlier domestic dispute. After the killings, Singh fled to New Jersey in an attempt to locate the family members who had escaped.
It was information from authorities in New Jersey that prompted the initial welfare check at the Manassas home. Police in Burlington County, New Jersey, had detained Singh after other family members contacted them. Following his detainment, information was relayed to the Prince William County Police, leading them to the scene on Hanson Grove Court. Singh was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of murder, four counts of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of abduction, one count of strangulation, and one count of domestic assault and battery. He was held in New Jersey, awaiting extradition to Virginia to face the charges.
