In the late hours of a Saturday night in Tallulah, Louisiana, the life of 20-year-old Clayton Crye Jr. was tragically cut short. On September 21, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a shooting occurred in the 1400 block of Florida Street, resulting in Crye's death. The Madison Parish Sheriff's Office initially responded to the incident but soon requested the assistance of the Louisiana State Police to lead the homicide investigation.
The investigation into the male victim's death
proceeded, and within a month, authorities identified a suspect. Armone Wesley was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Clayton Crye Jr. His apprehension, which took place after a brief standoff, was a collaborative effort between the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office, the US Marshal Service, the Louisiana State Police, and the Tallulah Police Department. Wesley was subsequently charged with murder, and authorities indicated that further arrests and charges might be forthcoming. Several weapons were also seized from the residence where Wesley was taken into custody.
Shortly after Wesley's arrest, a second suspect was taken into custody. Darrel Dewayne Hester was arrested by the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office and the Tallulah Police Department based on a warrant from the Louisiana State Police for his alleged involvement in Crye's death. Hester was apprehended without incident at a residence on Florida Street, the same street where the shooting took place. The investigation into the death of Clayton Crye Jr. remains active and ongoing.
