On January 22, 2023, at approximately 3:10 a.m., 38-year-old Patrick L. Johnson was fatally shot outside R&B's Bar & Grill, located on Columbia Northeast Drive in Columbia, South Carolina. Emergency responders arrived to find Johnson with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
