On December 22, 2017, the life of a 30-year-old Black male named James K. Copeland III came to a tragic end following a violent alteration in Columbia, South Carolina. The incident unfolded during the early morning hours at a McDonald's restaurant located on Parklane Road, a commercial corridor in the northeastern part of the city.
