In the late hours of a Saturday night in September, 37-year-old Jibaris Veal of Columbia, South Carolina, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The discovery was made around 10:30 p.m. on September 14, 2024, after Richland County deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Koon Store Road following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival in the more rural area north of Columbia, they found a Jeep Cherokee inside a shed on the property.
Inside the vehicle were the bodies of Veal and another man, 40-year-old Corey Johns of Lexington.
The initial investigation into the double homicide left authorities with little information about a potential motive or those responsible for the violent act. The Richland County Sheriff's Department commenced an investigation, seeking any information from the public that might lead to an understanding of what transpired that night.
