In the winter of 2023, the life of 31-year-old Kentraill L. Hampton was tragically cut short in Columbia, South Carolina. On the morning of Saturday, February 25th, deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the 7000 block of Sprott Street, an area situated between S.C. 277 and U.S. 1/Two Notch Road. They were responding to a report of an unresponsive male found outside a residence.
Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of a man who had sustained
multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. The Richland County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as Kentraill L. Hampton, a resident of Columbia. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into his death was immediately launched by the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or a potential motive in the shooting death of Kentraill Hampton.
