In the early morning hours of July 8, 2015, a night out in Columbia, South Carolina, ended in tragedy for 23-year-old Brandon Samuel Brown. The young man was at the Faces Lounge Bar & Grill located on Decker Boulevard when he was shot. Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a call of shots fired at approximately 5:30 a.m. and found Brown with a gunshot wound to the lower body.
He was rushed to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, where, despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 6:21 a.m. The Richland County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Brown's death was the result of a gunshot wound to the upper body.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect. Through tips received by CrimeStoppers, Richland County Sheriff's deputies were able to identify and locate 25-year-old William Jackson. Just two days after the fatal shooting, on Friday, July 10, 2015, Jackson was taken into custody at the Willow Run Apartments on Alcott Drive in Columbia.
Following his arrest, William Jackson was charged with the murder of Brandon Brown. He was booked and held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
