In the quiet community of Gaffney, South Carolina, the life of Velvet Denise Foster, a 50-year-old Black female, came to a sudden and tragic end. In the early morning hours of a Monday in June, she was discovered in the front yard of a home that was under construction on Catawba Road. The discovery was a grim one; she had sustained a gunshot wound to her head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
