On the morning of February 13, 1968, 15-year-old African-American girl Opal Dianne Buckson was abducted while walking to her school bus stop near her home in the Mount Sinai community of Gaffney, South Carolina. Her 16-year-old sister, Gracie Buckson, witnessed the kidnapping and provided authorities with a description of the abductor's vehicle—a blue car.
