On January 4, 2023, 18-year-old Alexis Shaynne Griffin was fatally shot while riding as a passenger in an SUV driven by her boyfriend in Gaffney, South Carolina. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Overbrook Drive and West Buford Street, where gunfire erupted, and a bullet struck Griffin.
