Nancy Carol Parris, a 20-year-old woman, was tragically murdered on February 8, 1968, in Gaffney, South Carolina. She was abducted while taking her dog for a walk at night and never returned home. Her nude body was later discovered on a riverbank beneath a bridge. Parris had been strangled and raped, and her death was part of a series of killings attributed to Lee Roy Martin, a serial killer known as the Gaffney Strangler.
