On December 21, 2023, a tragic incident occurred at Forest Park Playground in West Ashley, Charleston, South Carolina. Erick Ortega-Alvarez, a 20-year-old resident of Goose Creek, was fatally shot at approximately 1:15 PM. The Charleston County Coroner's Office confirmed his time of death as 1:16 PM, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
