On April 10, 1975, Avery Leroy Howard, a 34-year-old resident of Charleston, South Carolina, was tragically murdered by Donald Henry "Pee Wee" Gaskins, a notorious serial killer. Gaskins shot Howard to death, and on the same day, also stabbed to death Dianne Bellamy Neeley, who was Howard's girlfriend and the estranged wife of Walter Neeley, one of Gaskins's closest friends and criminal associates.
