On a Thursday in January, a burst of gunfire shattered the daytime quiet at a highway intersection in Greenwood, Mississippi, an event that would end in the tragic death of 19-year-old Shackia Stewart of Robinsonville. The violence, which erupted on January 11, 2024, did not confine itself to the intersection, spilling over into a neighboring McDonald's restaurant. In the chaotic aftermath, Stewart was rushed to Greenwood Leflore Hospital, but his wounds proved to be fatal.
