In the early hours of Sunday, July 21, 2024, a tragic mass shooting in Indianola, Mississippi, claimed the life of 19-year-old Marquette Baites, a Black male from Greenville. The incident unfolded just after midnight near a local nightclub, Club Lit, on Church Street, where a large crowd had gathered. Baites was one of three teenagers who lost their lives in the chaotic event that left a community in mourning.
