In the late hours of February 6, 2024, Christopher Ivory, an 18-year-old Black male, was killed in what authorities described as an apparent ambush just outside the city limits of Indianola, Mississippi. A recent graduate of Gentry High School, Ivory was known by his classmates for his energetic, funny, and humble nature. Friends recalled his ability to bring laughter even in the most serious of moments.
