In the late hours of a Sunday in Indianola, Mississippi, the life of 20-year-old Treyveyon Lyons of Greenwood was cut short by gunfire. On August 20, 2023, in the 400 block of Faison Avenue, Lyons was fatally shot in what became the city's first homicide of the year. He was rushed to South Sunflower County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Indianola Police Department began an investigation that led to the swift apprehension of one suspect, Lamorris Richardson, who was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with first-degree murder. The pursuit of justice for Lyons did not end there, as the investigation continued to unfold over the following weeks.

Law enforcement's efforts resulted in the arrest of a second individual in connection with the murder, bringing another person allegedly involved in the tragic incident into custody. The search for all responsible parties culminated in the arrest of a third suspect, Devon Gino Anderson, who was taken into custody in Indianola. Anderson reportedly attempted to flee from the back of a residence at the time of his arrest. The name of the second suspect arrested has not been publicly released. While the alleged perpetrators are now in custody, the circumstances that led to the untimely death of Treyveyon Lyons remain under investigation.
