On August 4, 2024, 18-year-old Korey O'Neill Sims Jr., a recent graduate of St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, Mississippi, was fatally shot while socializing with friends at a residence on Abraham Drive. The assailant approached the group and opened fire, resulting in Sims' death at the scene and injuries to three others, identified as Travis Malone, Kedavian Catchings, and Montreal Harris.
