In the late hours of February 11, 2026, the Vicksburg Police Department received an E-911 call that would lead to the start of a homicide investigation. Responding to the call at approximately 11:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to Highway 61 South near Demby Drive. There they discovered a vehicle that had been involved in a crash, and inside, they found 18-year-old Jaylon Walker, a male from Hermanville, Mississippi. Walker had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Vicksburg Police Department immediately launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. For days, investigators worked to piece together the events that led to the young man's death, urging anyone with information to come forward. The investigation extended beyond the borders of Mississippi as authorities developed leads on potential suspects.
The breakthrough in the case came over a week later. On February 21, investigators from the Vicksburg Police Department contacted law enforcement in Kokomo, Indiana, with information that the individuals wanted in connection with the murder might be in their city. Local officers in Kokomo located a vehicle associated with the suspects at a residence. In the early morning hours of February 22, the Kokomo Police Department's SWAT, drone, and negotiator teams executed a search warrant at the home. Following a brief negotiation, two 18-year-olds, Quintin Wilson and Arkeyveion Stamps, were taken into custody without incident. Both men are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jaylon Walker and are being held in Indiana pending their extradition back to Mississippi to face legal proceedings.
