On April 13, 2023, 22-year-old Shemar Jashad Smith was fatally shot in the Waltersville Estates neighborhood of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Responding to a disturbance call around 9:40 p.m., police discovered Smith in the 200 block of Walters Street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey.
