On September 28, 2024, Marquez Kentrell "MJ" Carter Jr., a 16-year-old resident of Columbus, Mississippi, tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting incident. The event occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Constance Lane, where police responded to reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found Carter, who died at the scene despite their attempts to administer aid. Another 17-year-old victim was also shot and rushed to the hospital.
