On September 2, 2023, Marquis Deone Sanders, a 44-year-old resident of Flint, Michigan, was shot and killed outside the Continental Club Grill. The shooting occurred around 4:15 a.m. in the 3400 block of Industrial Avenue, an area known for its nightlife. Sanders was found with serious injuries and was transported to Hurley Medical Center, where he later died from his wounds.
