In the late afternoon of September 6, 2023, a sense of tragedy befell a neighborhood in Muskegon Heights, Michigan. Responding to reports of an unresponsive man, police arrived at a residence on Baker Street to find 21-year-old De'Marcus La'Trell Franklin in the front yard, suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders attempted to save his life, and he was quickly transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at approximately 3:23 p.m.
