In the late summer of 2024, the community of Muskegon, Michigan, was shaken by the sudden and tragic death of Carlos Lafawn Piggee, a 48-year-old Black/African American man. On the evening of August 31st, what was meant to be a joyous celebration, a cousin's retirement party near the intersection of Beidler and Forest, turned into a scene of violence.
