In the late morning of May 3, 2023, the life of 14-year-old Demario Spears Jr., a Black male from Muskegon, Michigan, was tragically cut short. The young teen was shot and killed on Jiroch Street, just a short distance from Muskegon High School. Initial confusion led to some reports stating his age as 15, but his father later clarified that Demario was indeed 14, born on November 11, 2008. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the torso and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
