In the late evening hours of April 18, 2022, the life of Junius Evans, a 20-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short in Muskegon, Michigan. Police were dispatched to an apartment located in the 400 block of Glen Oaks Drive around 10:22 p.m. where they discovered Evans unresponsive. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Muskegon Police Department quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence. They assured the public that there was no ongoing threat related to the incident and also ruled out any connection to another shooting that had occurred earlier the same day on Emerald Street. The case was treated as a homicide, and an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting commenced.
Despite the police department's efforts and their belief that Junius Evans was targeted, the investigation has not yet led to the identification of any suspects. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward to assist in bringing closure to the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
