On December 16, 2023, 44-year-old Steven Douglas Cica Jr. and his 22-year-old daughter, Veronica Jean Cica, were fatally shot in their home on Algonquin Street in Battle Creek, Michigan. The assailant, identified as 22-year-old Todd Edward Bolden Jr., forcibly entered the residence around 6 p.m. and opened fire, resulting in Veronica's immediate death. Steven sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds the following day.
