On June 2, 2024, 31-year-old Eliot "Rico" Flores was fatally shot near the intersection of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Cherry Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. as bars were closing and patrons were leaving a nearby concert.
