On March 9, 2023, Leaveil Amonte Walker, a 40-year-old resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was shot and killed near My Place Bar on South Division Avenue. The shooting occurred in the early morning hours, and despite life-saving attempts by emergency responders, Walker was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was also shot during the incident and was hospitalized in critical condition.
