On March 28, 2023, Alex Lynch, a 28-year-old security guard, was fatally shot outside the Area Code Gentlemen's Club in Hyattsville, Maryland. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. when multiple assailants opened fire from a vehicle parked nearby. Lynch was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries shortly after police arrived at the scene. In addition to Lynch, two other individuals—a man and a woman—were injured in the shooting but survived.
