In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in March 2023, tragedy struck outside a gentlemen's club in Hyattsville, Maryland, forever altering the lives of a Landover family. Alex Lynch, a 28-year-old man, was working as a security guard at the Area Code Gentlemen's Club on Chillum Road. Just after midnight on March 28th, one or more individuals approached the club and opened fire, unleashing a hail of bullets. Lynch was fatally wounded in the attack.
When police arrived, they found him outside the establishment, having succumbed to his injuries. At the time of the shooting, it is believed he was unarmed.
The violence of that night also left two other people, both patrons inside the club, with injuries. They were transported to a local hospital and were expected to recover. In the aftermath of the shooting, it came to light that the business was operating without a proper permit, leading county officials to condemn the property. The club, which had previously been known as Mustangs, was under new management that had failed to secure the necessary licenses to operate.
Alex Lynch was remembered by his grieving family as a devoted father to his young son and a man with a generous heart. His brother described him as the life of the party, someone who was always smiling and had no known enemies, making his violent death all the more incomprehensible to those who loved him. To support his family, Lynch held a second job as a waiter. His loved ones were left heartbroken and searching for answers as to why someone would target him.
The investigation into the murder of Alex Lynch remains active, but as of over a year later, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly named by the Prince George's County Police Department. Investigators have indicated they are searching for at least two individuals in connection with the fatal shooting. A substantial $25,000 reward has been offered to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest and bring a measure of justice to a family still mourning an unimaginable loss.
