In the early hours of October 22, 2008, the quiet of a Hyattsville, Maryland neighborhood was shattered by violence that claimed the life of a young man. Pedro Luis Hernandez, a 20-year-old resident of the area, was discovered lying in the roadway at the intersection of Gallatin Street and 42nd Place, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
