On September 19, 2024, Jawaun Fortune Jackson, a 26-year-old resident of Washington, D.C., was fatally shot in Hyattsville, Maryland. The incident occurred on 52nd Avenue, where Prince George's County police officers responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Jackson suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
